Pricing

Why a monthly fee for a website, and not one payment?

Because the two prices buy different things. One payment buys the building of the site; the monthly fee buys someone keeping it alive and answering what it brings in. The number that decides which one you need is how many customers you lose in a week.

TL;DR: The build is a one-time cost. The monthly fee of 39,900 ISK works out at 478,800 ISK a year, and a single 15,000 ISK job lost every week is 780,000 ISK a year. Break-even is 32 customers a year, about 2.7 a month. If your business is not losing roughly three customers a month to messages nobody answered, you should not buy the monthly system yet, and we would rather say that now than after you have paid.

The two different things you are buying

Most of the frustration around website pricing comes from one confusion: comparing a build price with a service price as if they were the same product.

A build is a project. It has a start, an end and a handover. You pay for design, structure, copy, and the technical setup that lets Google find the pages. When it is done, it is done, and the site sits on a server exactly as it was on the day it went live.

A monthly system has no handover date, because the work it covers has no end. Prices change, a service gets added, a photo goes out of date, Google changes what it shows, and somebody has to answer the message that arrives at ten at night. None of that stops happening after launch, which is why paying for it once does not work. A site nobody has touched in two years is not a cheap site. It is a site that quietly stopped selling and did not tell you.

If you are earlier in the decision, the website cost guide for Iceland covers what drives the build price, and the comparison between a site builder and a site built for you covers the other fork in the same road.

The arithmetic, done here

We publish this on the pricing page and we will run it again here, because it is the only honest way to answer the question. Take one job of an average size, and assume you lose one of those a week to a message nobody got back to.

Example, a 15,000 ISK job:

15,000 × 52 weeks = 780,000 ISK a year walking out.

The system: 39,900 × 12 = 478,800 ISK a year.

Break-even: 32 customers a year, around 2.7 a month.

Two things follow. First, the monthly fee is not measured against the cost of a website, it is measured against the revenue that never arrives. Second, if your average job is bigger than 15,000 ISK, break-even comes sooner, and if it is smaller, it comes later. Run it with your own number before you decide anything. It takes a minute, and it is your number rather than ours.

There is a second figure on the same page. A person at the desk covers about 40 of the 168 hours in a week, which is the shape of a working week rather than a judgement on whoever works it. The other 128 hours are evenings, nights and weekends, which in a service business is exactly when somebody on the sofa decides to sort out their kitchen, their car or their hair. We are not selling a replacement for the person at the desk. We are selling the hours nobody covers.

When the monthly does not pay for itself

If you are not losing about three customers a month to unanswered messages, this is not for you yet. That sentence sits on our own pricing page and we mean it literally.

Cases where we say no, or say wait:

  • Your work comes from a handful of long-term clients or contracts, and nobody finds you through search.
  • You are booked out for months and already turning work away. More enquiries solve a problem you do not have.
  • You are still testing whether the service sells at all. Test that with a phone number and one page first.
  • Somebody in the business genuinely enjoys this work and has time for it. Then you need a build, not a system, and there are people who sell exactly that.

Selling a monthly fee to a business that will not earn it back is how a studio ends up with a client who cancels in month four and tells everyone the thing did not work. The short conversation at the start is cheaper for both sides.

What the monthly actually includes

Listed as it is published in the pricing section, with nothing added for this article:

  • The website kept live and improving.
  • Local SEO so people find you.
  • Replies in Icelandic, English and Polish.
  • Calendar booking, reminders and follow-up.
  • The changes as your business changes.

One item is deliberately not on that list. The automatic reception is being built, and we will tell you when it is ready. Until then what we commit to is the human version: no message left unanswered, and an answer from a person on the same working day. Anything that needs a person gets resolved that day.

The build phases, and why the build is not sold alone

The build is one-time and comes in phases. You start at the phase that matches what you already have, and every phase runs on top of the monthly system.

  • Get found, 199,000 ISK. Website built to rank, local SEO setup, Google and map presence.
  • Get found and answer, 249,000 ISK. The above, plus the answering system written, tested and connected to your channels.
  • The full path, 390,000 ISK. The above, plus calendar booking, reminders and follow-up wired end to end.

The implementation phase is not sold on its own. It exists to put the monthly system on the road. That restriction costs us work, so here is the reasoning behind it: a site handed over and left alone goes stale in a predictable way, and the studio that built it gets blamed for a result it had no way to deliver. We would rather decline the build than sell a launch day and call it a system.

No lock-in: 30 days' notice, and the site is yours

There is no minimum period. You cancel with 30 days' notice and you keep the website. A monthly fee with a twelve month tie-in is a loan dressed as a service, and it changes who has to keep proving the thing works. With 30 days' notice, that is us, every month.

FAQ

Can I pay for the website only and look after it myself?

Not with us. The build phase is not sold on its own; it exists to put the monthly system on the road. If what you want is a site handed over and then run entirely by you, we will tell you rather than take the job.

What happens if I cancel?

You cancel with 30 days' notice and you keep the website. No lock-in period, no exit fee.

Does the monthly fee include changes to the site?

Yes. Changes as the business changes are part of what the monthly covers, along with the site staying live, local SEO, replies in Icelandic, English and Polish, booking, reminders and follow-up.

How much does the build cost?

199,000 ISK to get found, 249,000 ISK to get found and answer, 390,000 ISK for the full path. You start at the phase that matches what you already have. The cost guide explains what sits behind those numbers.

Not sure the arithmetic works for you?

Send us your website. We will tell you, concretely and for free, what is holding it back, and whether the monthly system would earn its keep in your business.
